MANNY MORRISON
N/A | Civilian | Nineteen |
5’8” | 152 | Human |
Male | Homosexual | Disney Town |
appearance
Manny is quite the attractive young man with a youthful appearance about himself. As far as skin is concerned, Manny has an all-around fair complexion, with rather pampered skin due to him taking rather decent care of himself and properly maintaining his complexion. Manny possesses slightly chiseled facial features, with an all-around strong jawline- giving him a defined face, which, as mentioned prior, is often cared for by his meticulous hygiene. Manny’s eyes are a warm hazel color and pair quite nicely with his signature black locks. Along with this, he possesses a very well-toned, svelte, and lightly muscled dancer physique. The most prominent aspect of his "toned" physique would most likely be his pectorals and leg/glute muscles, which all appear to have been given special attention in his figure- making him appear to be reminiscent of a baseball player (most notably due to his strong legs and perky behind). However, these are features that can most easily be attributed to all his ballet dancing. He’s shorter than average, standing at the height of 5’8”, though not too short to where he is constantly looking up at others. Lastly, Manny possesses dark black hair which almost always contains copious amounts of gel and is the result of a rather long process in front of the mirror every morning (which can last up to an hour on particularly rough hair days), overall, the style is somewhat reminiscent to that of a pompadour.
personality
Manny is a highly extroverted individual, who has no problem being the center of attention. A people person, Manny excels in social situations and always seems to easily captivate others with his charm. His infectious charisma can light up any party and breathe life into even the dullest of events. Talkative, bubbly, and an excellent listener Manny is in his element when surrounded by others, something which easily helps him make friends with a large variety of different individuals. Like a magnet, Manny manages to attract multiple friends (whether old or new) regardless of the environment. With these sorts of skills, one can hardly bring into question why he’s as popular of an individual as he is.
Being a genuine follower at heart, often Manny takes the back seat and will follow along with what the more natural leaders suggest. As a people pleaser, Manny’s happiness typically derives from ensuring the happiness of others. So, he’ll often opt for following the masses, to make sure that everyone comes out happy. While this agreeableness does, in fact, lessen the complications of figuring out what to do, it means that Manny is quite a bit more susceptible to following bad ideas just because he likes the person suggesting them. Fortunately, Manny's source of boundless optimism and cheeriness seems to counterbalance the fact that he lacks in leadership skills. His constant hopefulness and willingness to put his best foot forward is a valuable enough quality all within itself.
As energetic and fun loving as Manny is, he’s constantly seeking a sense of excitement in his day to day life to prevent becoming bored. This need for excitement can cause Manny to grow weary of routines and he constantly seeks out new ways to fill this need. A major struggle for Manny can be his ability to stay focused. A long-term dedication to a project that Manny is not passionate about can be quite a hassle and often becomes more and more stressful for him. This, coupled with his poor planning skills often do more harm than good. Manny’s been known to utilize the “just wing it” approach to a lot of things he needs to handle. Big projects, vacations, packing, and other situations which should require an ample amount of planning are often improvised and handled by bursts of random energy that Manny gets to work on them. While it isn’t the smartest to not plan things out step by step, Manny has become quite good at improvising and getting tasks done in the spur of the moment.
While Manny doesn’t have a big affinity for drama or conflict, he typically finds himself placed in the middle of his friends’ issues. This is partly because of his approachable personality and the fact that he struggles at shutting down these types of conversations. Sadly, Manny isn’t the best at handling these issues and often lets them play out around him with him acting as a “Switzerland” of sorts in the conflict. Lastly, being as emotion-driven as Manny is, he is very susceptible to criticisms. While he doesn’t take them too much to heart, it can sometimes bum him out when they’re very negative. But, he’s usually able to keep a chipper attitude about himself and remain his usual peppy self.
history
Born and raised in his home world of Disney Town; Emanuel “Manny” Morrison has lived a rather simplistic and uninspiring life. Manny was born as the result of Josephine and Alan Morrison's marriage, yet unfortunately, shortly after news came of their new arrival Alan fell ill and passed away before Manny was born - leaving Josephine alone to raise her unborn child. However, she, fortunately, would not have to. This is because after hearing the news of her daughter’s pregnancy, Josephine’s widowed mother, Mildred, moved back in with her daughter and swore to spend the remainder of her life helping to support and care for Josephine and her child. And from then on, the two would set out to raise the infant Manny and work their hardest to provide him with the best chance of succeeding in life. And, for the first nine years of the boy’s life, the duo managed to give him the very best childhood which they could muster.
However, this process did involve Josephine consistently working a multitude of added jobs during weeknights and weekends to keep the family afloat. During this time, however, Mildred would typically stay at home and tend to the young Manny, as well as handle all the necessary housework. Not to mention, this also allowed Mildred (who was a former nursery school teacher before she had retired) to help ensure that Manny got all the necessary developmental guidings which a guardian could provide. This system, while of course quite draining, could earn the family unit enough money to make ends meet and granted them just enough spending money to ensure Manny received a gift on both Christmas and his birthday. The system also guaranteed that Manny never felt neglected nor lonely, since he was always in the company of a beloved adult. In short, while he did not have much, Manny’s adolescence was filled with love and he was a typically content child.
At the age of the four, Manny discovered his true love and lifelong passion- dance. His grandmother (who had been a firm lover of the arts) took Manny to see a local performance of “The Nutcracker” and it was love at first sight. The juvenile Manny had been simply entranced by the way the performers were able to manipulate their bodies to perform such awe-inspiring dance routines and he just had to see more. Over the next few weeks, Manny would beg and beg his grandmother to take him to another performance, but much to his delight, she had instead chosen to enroll him in a ballet class. While the class was not especially cheap, Manny’s grandmother found her grandson’s passion to be an investment of its own. And, in time, his dance skills grew, and the studio began to offer scholarships for him to attend their classes. As the years passed by, Manny grew to become one of the top youth ballet dancers in Disney Town and went on to get trained in various other styles of dance (such as tap, jazz, contemporary, etc.).
Of course, nothing good can last forever; and on Manny’s fourteenth birthday his grandmother passed away.
It was a hard hit on the Morrison family and the two of them each took it a bit differently. Manny, who was known for his unrelenting optimism, tried his hardest to find any sort of silver lining in the extremely bleak situation. He loved his grandmother, more than anything, but he knew that he had to accept that it was her time and that she was most likely in a better place now. Naturally, he was still distraught by her passing, but in his heart, he knew that the passing was meant to be and was bound to happen at some point anyway. Josephine, on the other hand, was a little less hopeful; With her mother gone, Josephine found herself fearful of what was to come. Her responsibilities had seemingly doubled overnight, and Manny’s impending future was slowly creeping up on her. Using the little inheritance money, she had received, Josephine set aside a small savings fund for her son. This was with the hope that over time it would accumulate and eventually become sustainable enough to help Manny out as he transitioned into adulthood. After all, now that she was acting as Manny’s sole guardian, Josephine knew that she had to begin to plan and persevere- especially since he would surely move out within a few years. Unfortunately, however, she now also carried around a heavy load and would often overwork herself to keep the two of them from going into complete poverty. It was a rough job, but someone had to do it.
However, if there was one good thing which emerged from Mildred’s death, it was the newfound sense of passion which was distilled within Manny. Manny, who loved his grandmother dearly, found himself inspired after his grandmother’s death and decided that he should listen to his heart and follow his dreams- just as his grandmother would want him to do. So, with that, Manny decided to make his life aspiration dance and pursue it as a career.
Fortunately for him, things really started to turn around for him in the years following his grandmother’s death and he’s grown up into quite the jubilant young man. During those years he even got a job working as the resident Ballet and Tap teacher at the Disney Dance Studio. Most recently, however, Manny has started to run the studio and has taken over full operations because the former owner offered for him to take over after her retirement. Overall, Manny couldn’t be happier with his life- living blissfully unaware of how small he really is in the grand scheme of things. He’s more than content living out his merry little life in Disney Town and going along for the ride.
