Humming sweet harmonies to the light chirping of the birds outside of his window, Manny let out a soft sigh in admiring the little details of how the day began. He was always quite observant of the day in its middle, or even toward its end, but never had he woken up with the thought of observing how it began.
Everything was so crisp and fresh.
Perhaps it could have just been because he had just woken up that all of his senses were alert. But every morning was like this – perhaps he had just never bothered to think much of waking up before. It always just… happened.
After preparing himself in more decent clothing to be spotted in – he wasn’t very fond of people seeing him in his jammies (as cute as they may be) – he laced up some shoes and was off down the corridor leading out from his room. Gracefully stepping through the living room, he saw a small calico kitten snuggling atop a plush red pillow on his couch. “I’ll be home in a bit, Annie – be good.” He said with a smile and a light laugh. Him and his new kitten, Annie, had only been together for a few months, but anyone could tell you it was a match made in heaven.
As he made his way out the door, he grabbed a small wicker basket from the table beside his door and headed out – with an especially large amount of pep in his step. As he walked, he began to hum a melody that he had overheard the other day while wandering about through town. If it wasn’t already apparent, Manny enjoyed music and constantly found ways to incorporate song into his daily life. It was just so uplifting for him. Within his basket, a small light blue book seemed to shift side to side with each step. The young man had picked out a new book from the town library last week and today was the final day on his borrowing. Unfortunately, he had not read any of it.
So, Manny figured he would try to give it a shot and dedicate his day off to reading the book. And what better place than in the gardens just on the outskirts of town?
The picnic basket swung in Manny’s arms as he rocked his arms back and forth with each step. The aroma of the sweetly scented garden flowers danced through his mind as he in took a deep breath and let the smell tickle his senses. Manny twirled a bit on the paved streets looking up into the sky, times as beautiful as these made him think back to his grandma. He sure missed her. She really taught him to appreciate the little things in life. He let out an audible sigh as he sat down on the bench resting nearby the gardens, pulling out the book once he was settled.
Chapter one.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | He had never been to Disney Town.
Considering his relationship with Mickey -- His Majesty, The King -- it must have been an odd fact. Near everyone else had been at one point or another, defending the town or the castle proper from the heartless and Maleficent. But Riku, he had never... There had never been the right occasion for him to come.
And for the longest time, it had felt like he didn't deserve to visit this world. After all the pain and darkness he had brought to all the worlds, was it right for him to experience anything so happy or joyful in his life?
Those feelings hadn't gone away, but Riku had gone a good job at learning to be able to push them to the back of his thoughts, shrugging them off while moving forward. What else could he do, after all?
His sneakers crunched over the grass as he walked along the outskirts of the town, heart thudding in his chest from anxiety at the thought of actually going inside. Riku found himself worrying at the corner of his lower lip for a moment as he cast his gaze about, resulting in accidental eye contact with a young man sitting on a park bench. The result was an awkward smile from Riku, something that looked more like a grimace, and a gesture that was supposed to be a wave.
I shouldn't be here-

Reading was not a typical pastime for Manny.
Frankly, it was difficult for a boy as energetic as him to sit still for so long. He was a kinetic person, and therefore he consistently found himself needing to move somehow to have his attention captured or – at the very least – he needed to be doing something less internal. Which was probably why this book had sat on his shelf for the past week. There were just so many more interesting things which he could have done – and so he did them.
All of this was probably why Manny’s eyes were wandering about instead of being buried within his book. After all, what could be more interesting than the world around him? The book would be there in an hour – the present would not.
As Manny sat there with his book in his lap, he noticed a silver-haired boy, about his age, lurking about not too far from him. As the young man stepped across the grass, Manny set his book aside and tilted his head slightly, watching the other boy intently. He seemed uneasy. Or maybe tense. Regardless, it was clear that he was not in a very relaxed state. However, there appeared to be a human being behind that tense wall of stone – as he offered a smile upon making eye contact with Manny, before adding a half wave.
In response to this, Manny’s face lit up with a kindhearted smile as he waved back. “Lovely day, isn’t it?” The boy chirped politely, offering a gentle conversation with the stranger. Manny loved making new friends, and this boy certainly seemed as new as they come. Or, at least, new to Manny. Though, the dancer felt as if he would have remembered someone like this boy – what with that rugged exterior and all.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | "Yeah..."
It was such a painfully weak response, but Riku couldn't think of much else to add. Was it a lovely day? He never really paid attention to the weather, aside from noticing whether or not it was a downpour outside. Weather had never changed during his time spent in the Darkness, and it never really changed much even on the Islands. Now that he was out, commenting on it always felt like a strange... frivolity?
Well. Not unless some sort of mission was being planned, but-
A heavy breath escaped Riku, one that was followed by a sharp shake of his head. He needed to- Was he supposed to say if he was going to go if someone else was talking to him, even if he didn't know them? It was just becoming clear that trying to visit the town had been a mistake. The Keyblade Master had avoided this world for years for a reason, and stepping into it now wasn't doing him, or anyone here, any favors.
